Minecraft 1.21.6 Pre-Release 1 for Java Edition was released today. Mojang Studios announced that they are approaching the final stages of the year’s second major update and will focus on bug fixes from now on.
Key Features
With this update, the Dried Ghast Block now emits special vibration frequencies when its block state changes. The Happy Ghast riding mechanics have been improved, fixing the issue where players could fly through Happy Ghasts ridden by other players.
On the technical side, the dialog system has been completely overhauled. All dialog windows can now have input fields and offer the option to pause the game. Additionally, a new keybind called “Quick Actions” (default G key) has been added.
Over 20 Bugs Fixed
The Mojang team fixed over 20 bugs in this release based on community feedback. These include:
- FPS drops caused by cloud rendering issues
- Player heads showing incorrect skins
- Zombie villagers unable to have professions

Mojang stated that they may release multiple pre-releases per week leading up to the full 1.21.6 release. Players are strongly encouraged to participate in the testing process and report bugs.
